Child’s First Visit
According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), a child’s first dental visit should take place within six months after their first tooth appears, but no later than their first birthday.
Child’s complete check-up
At Elegance Dental, the initial visit will consist of examining the child’s teeth and gums for decay and other dental issues and checking for problems associated with thumb or finger sucking. If needed, the child’s teeth will be cleaned.
Preventive treatments
Preventive dental care is important to the overall health of your child. We recommend regular cleanings, exams and fluoride treatments. Early cavity detection is important for your child and their developing teeth, as tooth decay can lead to serious problems relating to overall oral health. Our staff will take the time to instruct you and your child on the proper technique for brushing and flossing their teeth.
Restorations
Restoration recovers a tooth’s health and put strength back into your child’s bite. Primary teeth play an important part in your child’s development including learning to eat and speak. When your child has a cavity that needs repair, one way to remedy the situation is through the use of composite, BPA-free fillings. These are tooth-colored and safe for the child.
Emergency Dentistry
Unfortunately, emergencies happen. Two common dental emergencies in children that require treatment are toothaches and knocked out teeth. Toothaches are common and rarely occur without reason. If a tooth is completely knocked-out of your child’s mouth, contact our office immediately.
Spacers
Your child’s baby teeth have some big responsibilities. One of the most important functions of baby teeth is to hold the space for the adult teeth. When a tooth is lost too early for any reason, a spacer may be necessary to hold that spot open for the adult tooth to eventually erupt.
Sealants
To help prevent decay on the surface of your child’s teeth, sealants should be applied as soon as the tooth emerges. Dental sealants are a thin coating painted on the chewing surfaces of teeth — usually the back teeth to prevent tooth decay. It is a quick and easy solution for preventing cavities.
Fluoride Applications
Healthy gums and teeth are important to your child’s overall dental health. Fluoride treatments can help protect, slow down or stop tooth decay from getting worse.
