Crowns
Elegance Dental offers porcelain crowns, so our patients can maintain good oral hygiene while keeping their beautiful smile.
Porcelain Crown
Crowns, particularly porcelain ones are used to encapsulate and cap teeth for cosmetic reasons. They are used to restore your tooth to its original size and shape and can be colored to match your teeth. While crowns can be made of other materials, porcelain is preferred for its beauty, durability, and ability to be colored. Porcelain crowns can provide a long-term temporary solution to unsightly dental issues.
What Does the Procedure Involve?
Crown installation is a two-step process performed over two visits. On your first visit the doctor will take an impression of your tooth. From that, a mold will be made from which the dentist will create the crown. Even if the tooth id damaged, or the replacement is cosmetic, the doctor can use this mold to create a crown that is better than the original tooth. In the meantime, a temporary crown will be made from that mold until the permanent one is finished. This temporary crown will be installed once any decay has been removed from the existing tooth, and the tooth has been shaped and prepared to receive the crown. Using a temporary cement, the doctor will install the temporary crown. The doctor will then check for a good fit and make final adjustments.
At the second appointment the temporary crown is removed, any residue is cleaned, and the new crown is installed with a permanent adhesive. It is again checked for fit and finish, and then you are done. This simple process can have a significant impact on the look and feel of your smile.
Porcelain Fixed Bridges
A porcelain bridge is a fixed appliance intended to replace several missing teeth in one area. This type of bridge involves two crowns, one on either side of the missing teeth, with an appliance spanning the open space. On the first visit, the doctor will prepare the teeth on both sides of the gap. They will then later attach the bridge to these teeth.
