At Elegance Dental we understand that our patients want a healthy and attractive smile. That’s why we sue the latest technology and techniques to provide our patients with the best care available in a comfortable and friendly environment.
For front teeth and the visible sections of back teeth we offer color matched composite fillings designed to match the exact color of your teeth. That helps these fillings to be nearly invisible once installed. And while composite fillings are not permanent, with the proper care they can last for many years.
How Are Tooth-Colored Fillings Done?
When installing composite fillings, the decayed area of the tooth is removed, and a mild acid solution is used to clean the surface of the area being repaired. This is generally done using a local anesthetic to numb the area. Once cleaned, a bonding material is prepared and placed in the tooth. The material is then cured to encourage adhesion to the existing tooth and to the final step, the color matched filling material, which is then installed to the bonding material. Once the filling material is shaped to the contours of your tooth, it is cured using a curing light. Once cured the doctor will check your bite for proper fit, make any final adjustments, and then you are done.
How Do I Care for My New Tooth-Colored Fillings?
To maintain your composite fillings, you need to practice good oral hygiene and maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle. With the proper care, your composite fillings should last a long time. Don’t worry, we’re here for any questions and will give you specific instructions once your fillings are in.
Your dentist can help you decide if metal-free or composite fillings are right for you based on the location of the tooth, and the degree of decay. Metal-free fillings are popular because they allow the dentist to match them to your existing teeth, making them blend in with the rest of your smile. Both composite and metal-free fillings are encouraged for front teeth, or easily visible back teeth.
